Melanie J. McLane, ABR, CRS, CRB, GRI, OA, ITI, RAA, SRES, ePRO
Melanie Jackson McLane is a second generation Realtor®, following in the footsteps of her mother, Evelyn M. Jackson. Evelyn was one of the first females licensed to sell real estate in Lycoming County. Melanie graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1969, and then graduated from Kenyon College, Gambier Ohio in 1973. In 1975 she joined the family real estate business Evelyn M. Jackson Realtor® as a salesperson. In 1976 she began teaching real estate pre-licensing courses at the Williamsport Area Community College, now the Pennsylvania College of Technology. In 1978 she obtained an associate broker’s license and she and her mother became partners. In the 1980’s the firm incorporated and by 1990, Evelyn was slowly retiring and Melanie was the Broker of Record. In June of 2001, Evelyn died after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. In fall of that year, Melanie sold the brokerage end of the business to Fish/GMAC Real Estate. She retained the appraisal business, which is still operating and known as “Evelyn M. Jackson, Realtor®”. Melanie has served as President of the Lycoming County Multiple Listing Service (before it was incorporated into the Association of Realtors®), President of the West Branch Valley Association of Realtors® and has served
two two-year terms as District V Vice President for the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors®. She has
been honored on three separate occasions by her local Association of Realtors®; the only member ever to be as highly honored. In 1994 she was named “Realtor® of the Year” by the West Branch Valley Association of Realtors®; in 1999 the same group awarded her the “Spirit Award” given to a member who best embodies the spirit of being a Realtor®; and in 2004 her association awarded her an “Outstanding Achievement Award”. When presenting this, they said that they had considered the title: “Lifetime Achievement Award”, but were fairly certain she ‘wasn’t done yet’. In Fall of 1989, Penn State University gave her the award of “Outstanding Real Estate Instructor”. She has chaired numerous committees at the local and state level, and is currently serving on numerous
state committees as well as the Professionalism and the Appraisal Committee for the National Association of Realtors®. She and her husband, Jim are
the parents of two children: Lauren McLane, a 2003
graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, who works as a journalist in Greencastle,
PA. and Clark McLane, who is a student at Coastal Carolina University. Clark is finishing
his PGM internship at the Nemacolin Golf Resort and will graduate in December
of 2007. Melanie also serves as President of the Trustees of the Jersey Shore Library and cantors at her church. She is an avid reader and gardener. test test
